Zindagi Ka Ek Naya Safar!

As a candidate, you’re considering a job change and planning to transform your career progression. Making this important decision has everything to do with you, but just as importantly with the organization too. The first impression is the last impression, and it works both ways. Although much of your journey will begin after your first day, the interview is an important factor that sets the foundation to a long-lasting relationship. An interview tends to be one way or one-sided, however, for the candidate, a lot of the key takeaway comes as responsibility between self and organization. Read on, for unique insights to make the interview process favourable for both parties involved.

The interview process is open, honest and engaging wherein the interviewer takes an active interest to get to know you apart from your skills and achievements, the verbal exchange also reflects their keen interest in seeing you not just as an asset to the organization but as part of a big picture and a team that will look after the best interests of the organization along with providing an opportunity for growth. When the interviewer acknowledges the company’s shortcomings instead of painting a rosy picture with an opposing stark reality, they are being forthright about their challenges, so that you can make the right decision and are even better prepared instead of accidental surprises after joining. On the other side, you can also take time out by asking questions during the interview about the company, which reflects your keen interest and motivation to join along with an opportunity to learn more about the organization.

Post the interview, as part of the onboarding process imagine if the hiring manager wants you to meet the team?  If they initiate a Meet-the-team where you get to interact with your new colleagues and get a feeler of your new work organization along with the team that you will be spending most of your time with! This little feeler can act as a huge steppingstone on testing the waters and understanding the compatibility and dynamics at your new workplace. Additionally, taking a further step towards a lasting impression, the hiring manager may proceed to take the selected candidate through a fun, creative, comic manual that takes you through the company guideline instead of a highly detailed legally worded document full of intricate complexities or contractual bonds. This simple display of company manual would be much easier for all those involved, especially candidates that are fresh out of college and taking the first step towards a new journey. After all, let’s admit it – the likelihood of skimming through a 5-page fun-filled reading experience of what to expect in the company is still easier than a complicated 30 paged legally worded document!

Another bonus is if you observe that the office environment is happy, energetic and bustling which goes to reflect the happiness quotient of the employees and their welfare in the organization. This way, you know you’re in the right place.  Congratulations on taking a brave and bold first step, towards a new journey – we wish you all the best!
